Pronethosting.net have an offer running for the month of July of a years basic web hosting (inc. PHP/MySQL) for a meagre $5. Now this doesn’t include domain name registration, so off I went to godaddy.com, to avail of their domain name registration services. $9 gets you a .net domain for the year. (its an extra 10 bucks if you’d like whois privacy).
All in all, a good deal I think. Almost a shame not to avail.
PS : Seperation of hosting and domain name services is a good idea generally. It helps avoid any confusion down the line, if/when you decide to cancel your hosting package, and to ensure that your domain name doesn’t get ransomed on you.
